My vines were about 5 ft. I had a little pumpkin on two of the plants. I removed the pumpkins because I thought it was to soon to start a pumpkin yet. I was going to wait till the vine was at least 7ft. Now I feel a panic! Should I have let them be? They also both only had 4 parts inside. Shouln't I try for one with 5 to 7? I am so worried the next pumpkin that arives will grow!!!! The vines are at about 7 ft now. Nervous as all hell, Doeski

Doeski, it's ok to pick them off. Ideal is 10 to 15' out on the main vine.

I set a squash last year at 7 feet. I wish I had waited, though. I had females popping out the whole season, too. I could have set a fruit @ 10 feet no problem. Sleep easy, females will continue to appear.

I wouldn't pick any more off. After last year, I'll take a June set at 5 feet over an August set at 35 feet!
