If you have noticed it has been a little cool lately. According to the weather channels most places are 10F to even 20F below their average temp. Have any of you been feeling it? By the way, some places in Alaska have been over 80F for the past four days. Have broken some 60+ year records. S-Pope

Yes it has and still is cool all over the eastern half of North America. Long range shows for below average temps for at least the next two weeks yet.

80s and90s and 100s since february (except fot 2 cold weeks in May), with NO rain. At night, the temps still drop to the high 40s. Major temp swings. My "vines" are still under 2 feet long.

We've been getting cool nights in Wisconsin, and highs in the 60's. It has definitely slowed down vine growth, but the forecast for next week is a little better looking.

It's been cool here in western Canada as well. We've been flirting with frost, and it's damn near July!

I warned you guys last year that this was gonna happen this summer....the oddball weather ...reason is that for some of this year all the planets except for the earth are on the far side of the sun. All the planets no matter how small excert a pull on each other.... just like the moon causes our tidal system....well for a short time this year they did not, so leaving the sun the only influence on our planet. Now that venus has passed us by and we are catching up to some of the other planets the earth has to settle back down, and it gonna take another month at least.

Sounds like a pretty good forecast Alun. Similar to what these country sayings provide for 2004. Pretty much depends on what will happen in late July / August and that "Indian summer" in September.

Thats good news, a few planets out of position with the Earth.
I was starting to believe all of this cold weather was from the Gulf Stream ocean currents slowing down from the melting of the polar ice caps. Theory has it if this occured it would slip North America into another ice age within a few years.
Just my luck, I'm finally coming close to having soil worthy of the 1260 Weir seed and what happens "A Ice Age!!!"
Acually I'm glad now that I did not plant many of the proven seeds this year considering how crapy its been so far. Dean o

Cold here too in N.B. 54 F tonite... my longest pumpkin vine is 44 inches in length. The plants, even tho small do have signs of making blossems....but where the plant size is way behind last year, I have no great expectations for them. Our wheather is crazy. It was 110F in the huts on Monday, even with the ends open. I removed the plastic huts, thinking that it surely would stay warm and they were in danger of cooking if I left them as they were....and then it rained and turned cold again! I have just about given up on them producing anything special this year. The garden on the other hand is doing well in spite of the cold. However, I can just envision us haying with our coats on!

It's also been cold here. It was 48 @ 2:00 pm yesterday and is currently at 40. My plants have not grown much in a week because of the cold. Todd
