Will a plant that wilts from extreme heat lesson the chance to grow a 800lb plus pumpkin? Has anyone grown a large pumpkin from a plant that wilts and experiences some leaf burn?. The temp here in nanaimo is 32c right now with very low humidity.

My 695 plant last year loved to burn, grew me an 880 that split early sept... My 783 plant is doing the same thing this year. You'll be fine.

Try watering a little during the heat of the day. This usually works well to prevent mid-day wilting. I would also wonder if you are getting adequate deep root moisture levels if you are already having wilting.

It is just common sense that a plant that is stressed with wilting won't reach its ultimate potential and it will only get worse in July and August. My goal is always to prevent wilting.

I have daily wilting due to heat (100F+). I water for 3 hours per day on a drip irrigation system with 5 gallon/hour drippers. My plants are getting plenty of deep water, yet they continue to wilt from about 3 to 5pm. It is encouraging to hear that the heat-wilt can still get you a plant over 800 pounds!

regardless, I still have a plan to put in a misting system... I don't like allowing heat stress.
