How do you control what direction the secondary vines go? Some of mine are going up and/or across. I want to make an x-mass tree plant, should you use dirt at the joint where it connects at the main vine? Thanks Spencer

You've got to train 'em to go where you want. Bamboo sticks, coat hangers, dirt, anything to anchor them where you want 'em to be until they root themselves in position for the season. I stake them down with coat hangers and leave them in for the entire season to help keep the plant in the patch when the wind picks up. Good luck.
