Well! My Son and I were spreading mulch throughout the back yard today. The first thing I told my Son when he showed up to help was WATCH OUT FOR MY PUMPKINS! Well, quess what, he hit my best pumpkin main vine with a shovel and split it. This the second time this year I have had a serious problem with main vines. The first break happened when the wind was very strong and blew my vine all over the back yard and it split, now this. I tried to wrap the wound, wish me luck, this year has been a challenge.

That´s why noone is allowed to work closer than 3 feet around my plants. I always appreciate family help when it comes to weeding or digging in the patch, but the plant is my job. If anything happens I can be shure it was my fault - noone to bear the blame except me:)

He is 22 and a dedicated student at UC Santa Cruz. He is studying Evolutionary Ecoclogy. He is a good young man, but lost his focus and my pumpkin paid for it. I still love him though, DARN!

Oh, and one more thing,,,,, Its funny when you see something wrong with your plants, like a split, mold, svb, bugs ect, panic sets in, butterflys hit your stomack and you find yourself cussing kinda loud. After that is over comes depression and the long stare, the cussing still continues but now its down to a whisper.
I Bet there is alot of pumpkin growers on some kind of mood medication, if so can you please tell me how much i should take and does talking to a counslor help?,lol

Mood medication precription, small pumpkin plant problems usually can be treated with a few beers. Major plant problems require whiskey. Wine works also but you get funny looks from neighbors when your looking at your pumpkin plant with a glass of Merlot in hand.
