Hey Poet - Looks like your floss wrap up on your split could be a good temporary fix while the vine heals itself.

Although you could possibly have a bigger DOUBLE problem with that plant.

Looks to me like that plant is a double vine.
Are there two leaves, two tendrils and two secondaries coming out of each node?

I don't know exactly how the tendrils come out 'cause I've plucked them off every time I saw one starting, and didn't really pay much attention to exactly where they were coming from.

But at the end of the vine it does seem to be starting like two leaves at a time.

Though there doesn't appear to be any "nodes" towards the end of the vine... At least not that I can make out to be there. Only "nodes" I'm aware of are more towards the beginning base part of the vine. And from those there doesn't seem to be that pair of leaves at a time thing going on.

As for "secondaries" I don't believe any secondary vines have started yet.

But then again... I'm really new at all of this stuff... so maybe I could just take some more pictures and you could tell me what you think. :-D

Ceis, take another look in her diary. You will see more. Looks like it may be flat vineing. Poet is a personal friend of mine that I introduced to AGs. I don't have experience with flatvine yet, so we both would benefit from the help of the community here, please. She will probably be posting more information for you soon...

Ok... the entire vine is approx. 46 in. long...

And looking more carefully... It's only approx. 15 inches before the very 1st appearance of flat-vining began.
And it's 32 inches before the place where the vine split occured... which was about 4 in. long
And I think I may have just one or two secondaries before the 15 inch flatvine appearance. But I'm not sure about that... 'cause I don't quite know what a secondary is supposed to look like exactly...

I just took some new pics that I'm putting in my diary right away that will give a better visual.

And any advice you have would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Sara
