Interested in stroing some pollen for later use. Has anyone tried this by freezing?

Lots of people have tried storing pollen over the years. A significant amount of experience comes from the developers of new strains of daylillies. THose trying to store pollen for the most part do so by freezing or drying the pollen and some do both. Several pumpkin growers have stored pollen for several days by putting males in the refrigerator or for a year or so by freezing the pollen. I will have to search through my files to see if I have specifics but my message to you is that it has been done and is out there. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Just pick them like any other flower and put them in a vase and in your home. If you (or your neighbour) need them, then you have spares. It is fun when people ask, what kind of flower that is on your dining room table and you tell them "pumpkin flowers" Put them in the fridge and they last longer too...

Right Glenn, that´s what I´m doing. Even if you take the male at home the night before pollinating, you don´t need to cover it and can be sure it´s fresh and dry next morning.
For longer periods just make sure to store it somewhere dry and cool (like roses) and don´t forget to keep the bees out of your house-:)
