Storm broke vine tip off the main the only good news is i have a female on the main about 7 inches before the break, its the only female i have on the main vine. I just hope it pollunates.Iwont have to worry about vine stress since the pumpkin will be on the end, lol, any suggestions how to run my vines now since the main broke off with a female still in great shape? should i use the next secondary as my main? how do you think this will effect growth?

Train one of the secondaries behind your break as a main

ok thanks, i just hope i get the female to pollunate. should i train my next secondary as my main vine, or take the biggest one for my main, just seems better to take the one closest to the break, but its not as big as my back secondaries vines.

i broke my main at about 8' last year about 6" past my only female blossum and it became my personal best at 487.5 pounds and would have gone heavier than that if the svb didn't take me down on day 45 on my main vine at the stump. it grew fine. i trained the 3 secondaries on each side right behind the blossum in trident shape or like a pitchfork, out and around enough area for the pumpkin to grow in. that way i filled out the patch with more leaves still technically behind the pumpkin on the broken main. if that blossum doesn't take you can take one of those secondaries, the stoutest one, and extend it down and around to become your new main. you can see my 2003 diary for pictures. shazzy

I'd take the secondary that's closest to the break and train it as the primary. Over time it should thicken up and become your new main. Hopefully you haven't pruned the tertiaries off yet, they're your new secondaries!

I got an 800 pounder off a "redirected" secondary after the tip of the main broke off. Would you be happy with that SlyChit?

I would train that last secondary and let the plant get bigger before fruit set. I generally set fruit the 1st week of July and could easily go 2 more weeks.
