What is the largest fruit ever grown on a flat vine. Also, what is the largest fruit grown on a plant with a flat vine but actually grown on another vine that is not flat. Two of my best plants a 1016 and a 1385 both are flat vining. Wondering whether to pull the plants or use a secondary or set on the flat vine.

Good topic Mark, I asked a similar question a few threads ago with only one response. I wish I also knew the answer to this question you are asking, as I also have been having a flat vine problem on a 961 Daletas.

I noticed that there are several Daletas plants mentioned here with flat vines, we were lucky enough to have been sent seeds from Mr. Daletas also ( not sure shich ones, they were only marked "Daletas 2003") However, three out of the four plants we are growing have all flat vined. Is anyone else haviing this same thing happen with these seeds?

I grew a 550 pounder on a ribbon vine my first year growing AG's. I didn't know what was happening to the plant, but was more than happy with the results. I have also had plants that aborted every pumpkin it produced, so who knows. Good luck.

I think the 1053 Stelts was grown on a flat vine, on a secondy off the main.

I too am experiencing a flat vine on my 719 Smith... my only giant in the ground. So I guess I'm joining the flat-viners now. With my 1st giant ever too... lol... Lucky me...
