How many vines do you want on one plant? When do you start pruning side vines from the ones you are keeping, and when do you start burying them?

The # of vines one keeps on the plant varies depending on the size and shape of the patch and/or decison of the grower. The pruning / training style of the plant also dictates which vines are keepers as well.
On my X-mas tree, I allow secondaries 10ft & then they are terminated. I keep all of mine but the NH Boys prune every other one.
For the most part all vines are buried immediately after they hit the ground. This alows the axilary root system to get started as early as possible.
