I have decided to put a few plants in a last minute patch. It has had no manure, soil test, or anything done to it except being plowed. It is good soil. How much grandular fertilizer to you think I need to broadcast per 1000 sq. ft. and what kind like triple 10 or triple 13 or what. Doug

Doug...it's anybodys guess without knowing how the soil tests. Any answer will do without that information.

When shooting in the dark, it is always safe to assume the standard rates:
10-10-10, or 20-20-20 at 1 lb each nutrient per 1000 pre-plant .....so 10 lbs of triple 10 or 5 lbs of triple 20/1000...
Then a higer N material during early vine growth as a sidedress ....so..any lawn fertilizer of 4-1-2 ratio like 20-5-10 at less than full labeled rate. Say 3-4 lbs per 1000.
Pre-flower...ease of all Nitrogen...at most a 5-10-5. But preferably less N & more P to deliver nearly 1 lb P
After fruit-set: High K all the way. At least another pound of K in the post beachball period. Better doled at a little at a time.
So for the year: 1 lb of N. 2 lbs of P. 3 lbs of K.
But it shouldn't take 2 weeks to get a soil test done. So perhaps only the first need be done "blind".

I would just put the plant in the ground and start. Wait for the soil test results while its growing. Get started. If you already have "good soil," your plant will grow even without supplemental fertilizers.
Just don't waste "killer" seeds on it. Use unknowns in case there's something funky in the ground.

I understand it is a guess Kyle.

Thanks Kyle. Just looking for a more experienced guess than I can give it.

Go with Steve's recommendation, probably best overall. Sorry if I sounded like "bah-humbug", that's just a tough call to make. E-mail me a pic of your pumpkin you have going if you don't mind!

NO! Don't go with my recommendation! Add up that Nitrogen. I goofed! There's almost 3lbs of N there!
If you were to use 10 lbs of 10-10-10, then that's it for the Nitrogen for the season. From that point on, only P & K would need applying.
Half the rates & the anual rates por 1, 2, & 3 are there.
