I am very nervous when I prune because of the "hollow" nature of vines and tendrals etc. I hate seeing a hole into my vine system. But it seems impractical to patch each cut or even to apply sulfer or whatever to each cut. What are you doing with all of these cuts?

I cut mine. Then I allow some time for the cuts to dry out in the air. When the cuts are completely dry you may bury them.

Prune closer to the node where the hollow area begins. Then let the cut be exposed to the air for a day to dry out then bury it.

Pruning promotes growth. Ya gotta do it!

Those holes don't go all the way into the main vine. The main is it's own continuous tube made up of all the elements of the vascular system. The little stub left from pruning will dry up & scar over.

I carry a small spray bottle with Captan mixed in it, put a little on after each cut. It doesn’t add much time to the job.
