What should you you do if you have a break in the main vine of your plant? Sould you tape it?

Also, it is a horrizontail crack almost half way through the main. The growth has not slowed down but I do not want it to get infrected or start rotting.

Spencer,
Sulphur it and prop the vine up ever so slightly so the crack is as closed as possible. If you wrap it you may end up letting moisture collect there at the site, which wouldn't be good.
I did last year what I recommend to you, and it healed back together after awhile...2 weeks I think. But then I had to keep it protected all year as it was a weak link in the chain.
Of course, it all depends on the particular situation, and how big the crack is.
Good luck with it.
