A beautiful day...TEMPERATURE WISE!! Now if it wasn't for the southerly 30 mph. wind, and the 48 mph. gusts! Have been out several times, make shift windbreaks up at 6 a.m., re-do wind breaks at 9 and eleven o'clock, Lull in wind...NOT,Fiels corn only at 16 inches, so no protection from that yet. Vines are fastened down , some damage to one or two leaves, twisted and dry now, Most leaves and vines...Ok...so far...Thank GOODNESS I am laid off from work! I feel for the good people here who are gone to work while Ma Nature pulls her tricks. I could either QUIT trying to grow Giants...or..Move into a Holler somewhere...Any one a realtor??LOL

I thought it was going to thunderstorm today, so I took the hoophouse off last night, thinking the plants would get some rain. Well, they got scorching sun and wind instead. The were held down pretty good so the only damage might be a few tears in leaves. Another hurdle crossed...many more to come. All you can do is be prepared.
