Wash your hands Steve. All forms of fecal matter have bacteria that can make you sick. Use good sense and good hygene.

Manure??? Are you composting something with it? If so, make sure to add lime with it and whatever your mixing since it's summer now. Keeps the microbs in balance and helps keep oders down. Thats what I do with mine this time of year. I sure hope you aren't actually adding any to the patch at THIS time of the year..Yeah... this is a question I'd expect to see in the fall...
E mail me and let me know where the clone is at growth wise...and if your Ok or what not. I'm just wondering... Your answering everyones elses'questions usually in the off season, and now your asking some really odd questions yourself. Makes me a little concerned about whats up with you lately... is there a girl in the picture? {LMAOFLOL} If so...dump her ass....pumpkins come first!

A very good inexpensive book is on line second handed for under ten bucks. The title is: Let it Rot Author: Stu Campbell. Buy this. Read it. You will know your poopies. :)

Well, we always spread our manure in the spring. We have a beautiful vegetable garden doing it this way and my pumpkin patch gets horse poo as well. In fact, we haul all our manure from our two Norwegian Fjords and divide it up between our gardens each spring. Last year one of my pumpkin plants produced two pumpkins weighing over 400 pounds apiece (a 770 Van). They were grown in 100% horse manure piled on top of hard baked rocky ground....some fresh some several years old. I remember when I was a kid, my mum entered squash in a fair that had grown on the pig manure pile (not planted intentionally, just came from seed that had been dumped there over the winter.) They took first prize! No need to add lime, tho we do broadcast some on periodically. When I plant my pumpkins, I do mix in some super soil and peat moss in the immediate planting area. I do use Miracle gro and occasionally 20 20 20 later on in the season.

Storm; Interesting info. I have had a plant grow n top of a pile of compost and root down in it, but roots died when hitting the hot center of the pile. I also tried what you in 1992 and spent the summer pruning vines that cooked and had damaged leaves. That is in dry and hot Colorado though, maybe different there I guess. I'm not sure if "You get poopies on your hand Steve?" would experience anything different than what I did, as he is only 80 miles north of me if he applied manure now. Miracle Gro in manure is a no-no unless you want salinity levels through the roof! I used both and it jacked my soil up for years. The place testing my soil wondered if I was applying pure Morton Salt to my patch, LOL! Steve... still waiting on news. What up dude??? I thought I said to dump the chick!

No it's not harmfull most vegitables/grain crops you eat from the grocery store are raised (at least in part) in it. Get use to it if you want to grow Giants "Stevewoman", $hit is $hit, we hauled in over 50 yards for 7 giant squash plants and 4 watermellons; just don't bite your finger nails....
