Oh well now, what the hell do you do to deal with a mole, Yeah I know what they are after, but they made a series of tunnels in the 747.2's mound, Plant not showing any signs of wilt, but there were so many different channels in the mound I can't see how he could of missed them all. I'm assuming they burrow at night cause yesterday morning when I went out to say good morning, I seen the burrow heading straight for the mound, and it was not there the night before.

I'm not supposed to disclose too many details, but Bell Industries is going to soon be releasing a new Mole bait that should revolutionize Mole control strategies. More on that when the time comes.

Trapping moles is my dad's summer hobby. He's obsessed with it. He used the traps that have two sets of claws that clamp shut when they are triggered. We haven't had luck with the traps that shoot the spikes into the tunnel. Moles eat grubs so if you eliminate the grubs, the moles might leave too.

I wouldn´t trap moles as insect eaters, they keep your soil clean. The tunnels and channels in the patch are not comfortable, but moles won´t harm your roots, at least they do a little underground tilling for you.
Instead kill the voles if you have. Their tunnels are visible on the top soil, not like moles do, and they eat up the roots. Get rid of voles, but moles can be banished with scents in the soil if you don´t like them in your patch.

Jerry Baker used to recommend wine bottles burried in the soil with the neck sticking up. As the wind blowa the bottle wistles. Apparently they don't like the sound.

Moles will make their tunnels near roots when they are looking for grubs and worms. If the air gets to the roots they will die. I've killed 6 so far this year and I use the mole traps with the 6 spikes, 3 spikes on each side so it will impale the mole no matter what direction it comes from. They can make an awful mess of your lawn and garden if you have very many of them. Ray

Ray...just don't get obsessed like my dad is with keeping track! He has a running tally on an unfinished wall in our basement.

I'm not obsessed yet, but I like to keep the number of moles in my yard and garden down to a number where they don't do too much damage. I don't keep a tally of the number of moles killed anywhere. Ray

Thanks for all the imput, My Mother,God rest her soul, would stand and wait...Patiently, with a 22 and take her shot about 2 inches behind the furthermost soil movement...Darn If I Know how she ever was still enough, or for that matter, Patient enough! But she would wait and she always got her Mole! Voles are nasty lil creatures, have them too, but Like the moles, The Freakin GOPHERS usually scare em Off!

If you hired a few skunks to eat all your grubs, the moles would go away!
