This is my first year growing and everything seems to be going great. I am confused on what to prune. I know most people prune the tertiary vines, which i have pruned a few. but what about the secondary vines. I posted pics in my diary and as you can see the vines growing from my main are still intact. should i leave those. i have trained all the vines into a x-mas tree. could somebody explain what to prune or to leave the plant as is.. thanks so much, yomama

With the Christmas tree method, you let all the secondaries grow until they reach the edge of your growing area, then cut and bury the tip. You cut off all the tertiaries when they first start to grow. Anywho, I checked out your pics, and one thing you'll want to do is put "S curves" in your vine where that pollinated female is. Here's a link about how to do it. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=60
