Should I prune these? If I do How far away from the main vine and do I need to put something on the cut afterwards for infection?

If they are in the road cut them off. I keep a little puff bottle of Captan to treat all cuts or bruises.

If I can bury them that is what I do. To bury them is to give your plant a little more hold on to mother earth should you be faced with a blow.

They are tendrils.

You can cut them. Or you can not cut them.

Reasons to cut them: They take energy and can wrap themselves around leaves and your vine strangling them.

Reasons to not cut them: Don't want to stress/hurt the plant, and they can anchor your vine down so it doesn't blow away as easily.

I cut them where each individual one comes together. That way I can come by and just pinch them off. The remaining bare stem provides a bit of a buffer zone from me hurting the main vine parts.

Some people use captan, sulfer, or other products to prevent disease but its an option for you to decide just like cutting them in the first place.

General cleanliness is a good idea. Don't cut all 10 of your plants with the same razor. Use a new or cleaned razor for each plant to keep contamination down. Or just pinch them off with your fingers and don't worry about it like I do.

I cut when they first imerge, so they have time to heal by the time I bury them, a few days later. I trench and bury my vines and they get in the way, and just make a mess of things.

Check my diary.........I just put the tendril picture in. I wack them off or bury them according to the whim of the day.

Make sure if you are cutting them, you give them a few hours or half a day before you burry them.
