i've had several males rot off and 2 females on the main rot off 1 never grew the second grew a bit then turned yellow and fell off befor it bloomed. lattley i've had about 20 males bloom over the last week. but i'm starting to get concered over my 3rd female that is at about 16'. so my question is howmany males back should it be between a blooming male and a blooming female? secondly i see my fourth female now at 20' and it is green unlike all the yellow ones befor, so does this mean that it will bloom or have a better chance to bloom?

I had this problem a bit last year. It only seemed to happen during times of extreme heat.

Mr T - Unfortunately I don't think that the weather is your biggest problem.

That late addition of sulfer might have thrown things out of whack in your soil.
Seems like you are having reproductive issues with your plant. Lack of males and now premature female aborts.
How much kelp did you put in? Those growth regulators might be giving you problems too.

Try the styrfoam cooler method & ice for those 16 & 20 footers.

Best of Luck to you there.

i didn't even think of the sulfur. and i did add a 50lbs bag of kelp to my 800' patch along with a couple truck loads of local seaweed. i thought i had to much nightro in my soil and changed my water fertilizer it's helping but not were i should be yet.. i'm sure the 16' one is done for. but i have really really been pampering my 20 footer.
