this is my first year growing giants, my plants are about 2 months old now with main vines 3-5 ft. I'm getting lots on flowers right at the base of the plants. should these be removed? how far from the base should flowers be before considering pollination?

Good idea to keep all males growing until you have a pumpkin set on the main vine. Aim for at least 10 foot out from the stump for your keeper..... pollinate everything from 10 to 20 foot out and monitor growth rates. Also evaluate early shape and angle to the vine. 5 lobes generally better than a 4 lobe, but 4 can still grow huge! Those males sprouting from around the stump area could well be the ones that pollinate your chosen fruit! Good luck! Ben
