AT what point do I terminate the ends of my secondaries?

There are a number of factors that influence when one would terminate secondaries. First and foremost, stake out the perimeter of your growing area. Once the secondary reaches the edge of the area, its time to nip the end. As a general rule, I typically prune all secondary vine growth by Aug 1-Aug 7th, depending on the plant. This stategy applies to x-mas tree pattern of growing.

Joze, my plant is two months old and has a 9 foot main vine. Two secondaries are already 6 feet in length and are in the x-mas tree pattern. I intend to bury them if and when fruit sets on them or not. I guess my real question is, can a secondary vine become too long? I have a photo under diary of same name.

A secondary vine becomes too long when it reaches outside it's allotted space i guess...lol. The average patch size is between 400-800 sq ft. Im assuming. Based on this, secondary vine length is usually 10-20 ft long. A lot of growers will run secondarys out 15 ft each then terminate them.
