Hi Tom and Mark,...got nasty is right, Power casme back on a hour ago. Just up the road 9 power line poles went down. Family are all fine....Plants another story, Larger greenhouse went down during first strom 12:30 am, set it up at 5 am before work. During second Strom about 2 pm, 95 mph winds, and hail took down large greenhouse and 3 smaller one. In total both fair plant heavy damaged every leaf bigger than 6" are flat to ground. 735 Pukos got damage to stem, lost back up to 735. 723 Thankfully only hail holes in leaves, Will live. All plants in field patch where in river from overflowed creek,....Good news all main squash plants are fine......Bob

Glad your ok Bob, I heard the same thing you did Tom ( about the wind)& Bob was the first person that crossed my mind. Glad your family is ok, and squash plants are like cockroaches...they will survive anything.
Thinking about you in Ohio.............Paul

Bob, Glad to hear the family is ok. My computer got screwed up last night from the lightening. Which in turn took away my easy access to weather info. Well, ended up having 5 minutes to prepare for 70 mph winds and nickel sized hail.

Dad's and my comp plants are ok, only 2 got really messed up. All the competition greenhouses held to the ground, and only one end blew in. But I have 150 very very pissed off genetics plants. I think we will end up losing about 20 plants. The slightly older genetics plants ....well, 1 of them is left. The protection for them blew away.....and I am not bothering trying to find it.

Glad you're ok Bob. I saw that Taylor had some bad flooding.
We got some high winds here in Grand blanc, but nothing like what you got. I finally got my plants in the patch a couple days ago, and they're under water now....flood warning here for the weekend, and 2 to 4 more inches of rain in the forcast! I'm gonna try to cross your 896 genetics with Paul's 378 this year....should be interesting.
Good luck all.......Rick

Glad to hear all is O.K. We had a twister touch down a few miles away last night, and no power for about 6 hours. Is it just me, or are these storms becoming more commonplace to us growers?

It's not just you Kilr. We had 4 touch downs around us yesterday, and lightning struck a roof a couple miles away.
Shingles blew all over the place, and a fire started.
I added my 1st pic to the diary today....my patch is under water.....weird weather man!!!

We got slammed again last night. 2 or 3 more touch downs just north of us in Clio area, and about 2 more inches of rain. We had some wicked straight line winds come in @ 7:30pm, and the rain came down in sheets again! Wayne County had tornado warnings up just as ours expired. Everything ok from Sunday night's fiasco, Bob?
