I'm wondering how compost tea is applied. On the leaves, the stump, both? Once a week or more often? Thanks

I could try to explain, but this is Truly Docgipe's area of expertise, he'll be around, You can apply it to the leaves or stump,or ground drench, but Ya gotta make sure firdt before you apply it to the leaves cause it will burn them if it is too strong

The compost tea question is tricky. If your tea is anaerobic it will likely have to much nitrogen and it will likely burn unless it is diluted to just barely tinted water.

The term compost tea is grossly misused. Only teas made from proven aerobic compost can be aerobic tea and therefor actually be compost tea. Finally the compost, the tea and the equipment that makes the tea will have test records if it is real worthy quality. To site an example there are two pages in Garden's Alive claiming the values of tea as made by an offering of their making. There is no proof of the compost by test and no proof of the product the package will produce. Sorry words don't cut it anymore. There are numerous sources of tested and proven product and equipment. Don't settle for less. If anyone selling compost tea or tea brewing eqipment is not showing their test results they likely have none. When you find this turn and run for cover. There is good compost and eqipment out there. I am using the Bitti Bobolater from North Country Organics. You may search and read up to your satisfaction.
There are pictures and words in my diary of this product and equipment.

For years I made manure teas and thought I had a good one. I did not! It was of couse of some value but way short of the value of known properly made teas today.

One of the reasons you will find few printed words for the lesser quality teas is because those teas really are not very good and could under some circumstances contain the elements of disease. This is one of the things our dads and grandfathers did that is really not very good by today's standards.

All other teas should be called what they are derived from for instance: manure tea, comfrey tea, 10-10-10 tea.
