I started my seed on May 6 (soak and file), and the seed case just cracked today. I gingerly peeled it off to reveal mostly yellow cots with greying tips (looked like the edges were starting to rot). The main root has healthy color, but stopped growing at about .25 inches. The secondaries haven't been growing either. Is there still hope? Can this still be nursed along? Since the case cracked today, and the main root is still green/white, I think it is still growing.
Any help is appreciated.

are your seeds in peat pots? if so, get them under some bright flourescent lights, to supply them with energy to green-up them leaves... you're like me, just can't wait to get that seed coat off!!! you may wanna give them a little more time next time-- the seed itself is practically white inside those little greenish sheathings, and when you remove it really soon-like, they take a while to turn green, but give it a few days.once the seed has shown signs of coming to life, you can put it on a windowsill for the day and into the evening, but back under the flourescents while you're asleep. in this way, you'd be causing the seedling to starve for light just a little bit, but not so much that it would become TOO leggy----and, this would only be for a couple of days, until you really CAN plant them/it out. basically, once the seedling became a manageable size, further exposure to the flourescents would basically slow the rapid growth down to a minimum, so don't think they've STOPPED growing. i made that mistake last year, panicked to an extent and planted another batch. there was more to it, but i learned that lesson. hope i helped--'pal2

Oh. So, with this seed, I simply waited until the radicles emerged, then I put it in a 5 gallon pot outside. I did this with every seed I started this year without any trouble (temps in my area have been above 70 since around Feb. this year). All the other plants are healthy. Maybe I shoulda started this one indoors?

Cots appeared today. 15 days after soak and file. wow. Thanks for the encouragement, pumpkinpal. I would have given up on it and planted something else otherwise.
