But instead of useing Compost ( i just started my pile and it wont be ready till fall)

could you use.. say fresh cattle manure or would the end result be a burning effect to the plants?

If i'm going to do this am i better going to a farmer and getting some 2-3 year old composted manure or whats your thoughts on this

thanks

I wouldn't use fresh....

The compost that you use is just to innoculate the tea with beneficial bacteria. That being said it is best to use the highest quality compost you can get your hands on.

If your forced to buy, I'd get a reputable organic bagged compost or even better yet bagged worm castings.

Dave, I'm in the same boat as you this year, without any good compost for my tea. I plan on using worm castings. You can pick it up at any hydroponic store.

I bought just one bag of proven tested tea compost material from North Country Organics. They have tested frequently over a five year period to arrive at a high quality tea mix that is created in the aerobic state. They have all the additives to address any tea purpose you may have. It only takes two cups of their compost to yeild five gallons of high quality tea. Their tea machine is one of the best. Their site is worthy of your investigation. I use the Bitti Bobulator. It can easily supply the tea for up to a truck farm operation. Several growers are using the tea I produce for their patches. The tea and the compost have been extensively tested and reported publically on their web site.

I'm a 2nd year manure tea user. I started last Aug. and noticed a 300 lbs. increase in 1 month. I use goat poop in a 5 gal. paint strainer in a 35 gal. garbage can with rain water. I also add fish fertilizer and liquid sea weed. I have a air pump for a fish tank, and use this 5 day's a week diluted with rain water. I have rapid grouth and 5 happy plants. Jerri - good luck Dave
