Other than genetics, is there anything that affects when a pumpkins turns orange (ripens)? It is getting late in the season (i think) and will be frosting here soon. i have 2 basketball sized pumpkins hope they will be ready by mid october. One is more orange while the other is still yellow. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,
Divyan

The more sun that shines on it the oranger it gets, genetics are also a factor. if you water with some canola oil mixed in it will get oranger too. Mark Pistono told me that, you should e-mail him and see how much to mix in. I forgot because I'm a moron. I hope this helps, Tom
