Not on all my years of growing did I anticipate or expect this to happen. "Not in my backyard". This is a lesson I hope you all can learn off of me rather than experience it yourself.
As everyone knows, I tracked down as many older genetics as I could this winter, I had managed to reserve six satillite patches to put them in. A lot of stuff didn't make it up, which was devestating enough for me. The ones which did, all were being hardened off... the first day too... when some dumb ass thief{s} had the nerve of coming into my yard and stealing them right off my front doorstep!!! My wife works nights, and was asleep. I was working, and away from home. My Rotties didn't even hear them, as I would still have plants if they did (and some human flesh for the compost pile too).
A total of 12 plants in 1 gallon were ripped off, right in the middle of the day in my front yard. What really kills me is the fact I practically ram seeds or plants down peoples throats when someone shows even a slight interest in pumpkins or growing. I give away tons of seeds to local schools, start plants for local garden centers, and even help set up peoples gardens, all for the love of growing and to help others enjoy the fun of watching them grow.

I doubt anyone knew what they were taking, genetically. They also only took my 1 gallon pots, nothing larger or smaller. I'm lucky to still have a couple of impossible to find and germinate plants, but ALL of the other ones are GONE, along with all my hard labor. I practically ran my schedule and life around the clock making sure conditions were perfect for germinating them. Once I got the ones up I did, I then scheduled where they all would go, and everything was in place, ready to rock and roll. I finally turned off the shop lights, brought them all upstairs, and placed them outside on the porch for their first day in the sun, as it was a partly cloudy forcast day, perfect for day one outdoor conditions. I come home, and all one gallon plants I set out have vanished. I first thought it was a mean prank by one of my friends, but after searching every inch of yard, and calling everyone I knew, I realized it was worse than I imagined. My plants had been had!
Now I trust nobody, carry a shotgun around town looking for my plants and the dumb ass thieves, and am bitter towards the world. I plan to install trip alarms, booby traps, land mines, and hire snipers.
I just cannot understand how this happened HERE, and TO ME! Lesson to be learned... you are not safe no matter where you are. Neither are your plants.

Marc, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. Whether it was pricless or not, your home was violated and that shouldn't happen. I hope you find out who did it and they get what they deserve (although maybe not with your shotgun). Good luck to you.

I know how you feel back in the winter we had 20 escallonia bushes dug up and stolen from our front hedge two or three months after my wife had planted them. When they were replaced I put a row of barbed wire at ground level along the line of plants they don't tell you about this in the flower gardening books do they.

You can't grow an AG and not have people see it!
I'm not laughing at the theft, but wouldn't that be funny, the thief's garden overrun by AG vines???
Do you think they took them for the pots?

Thanks for everyones support... I just wanted to post this info mainly for everyone so it doesn't happen to anyone else. My neighbors are not suspects (laughs )... I've been trying to ram plants down everyones throats for years and they run when they see me with a potted plant! I've been trying to ram plants down the entire cities throat too... trying to get as many people in this city into growing, and then this happens. Everyone just remember nothing is safe outside. Stealing bushes is even lower though... man,,, that is wayyyyy low! My competion plants are safe though, they were not in a one gallon pot... so don't worry, I'll still be hitting 1,000 come fall, and guarding the fruit with the shotgun...LOL! http://joenorris.com/bpsecurity ...great link...LOL!
