is there a way to tell what way a plant is going to go? some of us have limited space and need the plant to go in a certain direction, and dont want to leave them in pots too long...

when the third leaf appears most of the time main vine willgo in oppisete direction also the plant will be drawn by the sunlight so if you want main vine to go south put plant in ground with third leaf pointing north GROW THEM BIG KEN

You can also lean the plant a bit in the proper direction when you put it in the ground to help it out a bit with the first true leaf in the opposite direction of where you want it to grow such as mudflap said. You can also put a light on the side you want it to grow and leave it on all the time till the plant leans enough. It's working for me right now with my 582 Hester. Michel
