Check your soil temp and moisture, make sure not too wet and cold should green up with heat and air.

TBO,
You don't give us much information, so it's very hard to say what might be wrong with your plant. How old is the plant, has it been transplanted into a larger pot, did you put any fertilizer in the grow mix?

Cory,
They need plenty of light, kept moist and in a decent sized pot.

Get with an experienced grower near you.

The plant is about 20 days old joe and i have it in a large 2 gallon pot. It has been transplanted for 10 days already. I have it under a grow light where it gets watered with care. It doesnt get overed watered and i fertilze with 10 52 10 onace in a while. All well i guess it will green up when i put it outside

Being pot bound will do that to a plant,I only get 5 days with a 2 gallon pot so I'd put it out quick if I were you.

what axc your serious. when i transplanted it in the 2 gallon pot the roots were the size of my hand and still had over 9 inches to travel down, well i hope they will be ok for another 15 days or so

I've never tried those jiffy pots but it could be the roots got trapped inside the mesh and can't get out.

Cory,
Most likely, the yellow leaves are the result of transplant shock and still being in a planting pot at 20 days. It doesn't matter that it's in a 2 gallon pot, the plant has been stressed and it's telling you that. If your intention is to grow a competitive size fruit, I would plan on getting it into the patch as soon as possible.

Thanks, if the roots are down that far already i eat my shirt. lol, i should be ok for a few days longer. I think its the lighting maybe even the type of colour in the leaves. My other plants are just coming now so i will be ok with those ones.

Listen up, big one!! When Joe P. tells you to get your plant into the patch as soon as possible, I would get it into the patch that day!!

I used two gallon pots turned upside down with clear plastic on the bottom and the roots hit the bottom of the pot 1-2 days after emergence on average. The plants were in their pots a week before transplanting them into the patch and every one had roots all the way to the bottom. I can only imagine the root system after 20+ days in a pot. These plants amaze me.

Roots fill containers fast. Joe's own 805 is a good example. This is taken from my home growers log.

4-21-04 9:30PM Filed & soaked.
4-22-04 6AM Into the baggy.
4-24-04 Roots emerged overnight. Into the pots.
5-2-04 Into the patch. 805 Roots made the bottom.

That's 11 days from soak to patch. Some seeds are less vigorous than this, but 3 weeks is a very long time. I agree with Joe. Get those buggers in the ground.

It is amazing to watch these plants grow above the surface, but to see how fast and how far these roots can grow at these early stages, is unbelievable. In 10 days, I was nearly forced to get my plants into the garden Sunday. The roots system was crawling all over the bottom, and to think, from emergence out of seed coat above soil, and less than a week from that, the roots had filled the ice cream containers.

As for the yellowing leaves, it is either from

1. overwatering which deters the uptake of nutrients, kinda gives the plant an "I'm full" feeling, keeping it from taking up the nutrients it needs to green up (nitrogen and iron).

2. If it were in the patch and this happened after transplanting, it could have been from transplant shock, as Mr Pukos has described. It also could be from an iron or nitrogen defficiency. If this was the case, and the soil is not drenched, I would add a little 5 - 10 - 5 , or maybe a little miracle gro to get it to green up.

Whatever it may be, best of luck, and always ask away!

I had roots coming out of the bottom of 2 gallon pots in 12 days from germination.

well i solved the problem i believe to the yellowish leaves. I fertilized with 15 30 15 and today i notice that the dark green is coming back in the leaves.

One thing a lot of people forget, a plant will quickly use up the nutrients in the pot area, leaving that soil void of nutrients it needs. It won't get healthy until it sends out new roots from the pot zone into the newly surrounded soil. 15-30-15 is a good addition, in moderation. Remember, they are still "babies"...LOL!

Still holding a couple of 11 day old seedlings in 4 inch peat pots, dang Canadians sending down their frosty nights! I have found "surgical" removal of the peat pot along with thourogh soaking of the seedling allows one to hold on for a while before planting if necessary. BTW the seedlings do seem to start getting "hungery" after about 10 days in captivity!
