First of all thank you for this great website and your seed exchange. I ended up keeping a 457 Derosiers and an 814 Girgis. both are growing beautifully and I feel lucky as a first year grower to have such great seed stock. The Girgis is slightly out performing the Derosiers w/ about 12' on the main vine, i've had some blossums, but am waiting for a female further out.
Two questions for your knowledgeable readers - (1)If I am not going to keep a female that a bee "may" have pollinated should I imediately remove it by cutting it of below the pumpkin? Should I remove the male blossums as well? (2)I have fairly limited space, is it okay to let the main vine grow freely and terminate and bury the other vines at 2' to 4'?
Thanks for all of your great info and free seeds. It is absolutely amazing that a little seed can produce this much vegetation and possibly a 1000 lb. WOW!!!! I thought all of you guys were a little looney with all this pumpkin stuff - but..... There coming to take me away, there coming to take me away, he he ha ha ho ho.

I always leave on many pumpkins until they reach basketball size. Then I keep the 4 or five best another week or 2 keeping the fastests grower(s). I am always hesistant to limit myself to one pumpkin any sooner than I must, because I only have one vine. You have to terminate your secondaries when they are at the end of the road.
