Ok one last question, This time around instead of planting the seeds after 24 hours of warm soaking in water i'm just gonna let them soak for 12 hours in moist but warm paper towl ive keep them around the 65 mark for the past 10 hours now. before i hit the sack tonight i'm gonna transplant the seeds to there pots should i put the pointed side down or does this really matter? just thought id ask. Also this go around i'm gonna use 4" round x 6 deep pots so its eaiser to keep the entire potting mixture warm then once they sprout i'll move them to the larger pots for the last week before they go outside into the green house. thanks Dave

Point *down* or lay on the side...either way will work.

I used to do the point down method, but often they came up with the outer shell still on. I went to laying them flat a couple years ago and every one since has come up clean. If you think about it, that is how they would germinate in nature. The pumpkin would rot and the seeds would end up flat on or in the soil.

Same here with the cover. Try about 45 degrees, point still mostly down. As the cover drags out of the soil, it usually falls off.

Another vote for flat here, maybe only an inch or less deep. Like to hear some input on depth of planting seed?
