You may not know it yet, but give it time. In a few months you will understand that growings pumpkins is addictive. Your motive for propagating these glistening beasts of the garden is something that only we are privy too. The obscurity this hobby brings can't be explained or understood by nongrowers. Puzzling as it seams, tending the giants is pure perceived misplaced pumpkin pleasurement...LOL..............

As you see your giant begin to grow, you will exclaim as did Alexander Graham Bell, "What hath God wrought!"

I do it because my daddy raised some cotton picken fools and I guess I am one of them. No buddy in their right mind would do this if there had to be a reason. I consider it an ordained responsibility over which I have no controll. Therefore I shall.

Most folks have a hobby of one sort or another. Something that they enjoy doing. Hey this isn't as easy for most people to understand like collecting things or being a sports fan. But one fact remains, when they see one of these monsters it gets their attention. They stare at it in disbelief. Oh my god! was an exclimation that seemed to come from many of the passing motorists driving slowly past the giants lined up by the road at the weigh off. It was like people rubbernecking at an accident. To me it is amazing to watch one of these things grow. As if the plant wants to make one year do for ten. It is a challenge that begs the question "how big can I get it to grow?" People at my work thought I was nuts till I took in a pic of my daughter sittin on one that taped about 300#. Then they wanted to know if I feed it miracle grow or milk.

Before I grew one I was dreaming of a 50 pound Howden Biggie! LOL! Bad times those were. What a wonderful hobby! You will get addicted! Alex.

if you liked science as a kid, then this silly hobby will grab a hold of your mind, body, spirit, and pocketbook before you know it, and sometimes not in that order.
this will only be my third year growing AGs, and i am officially hooked for life. it is one big science project that never ends. if you have even the slightest obsessive compulsive tendencies, watch out--you'll be a pumpkin junky too.
