One could create a 501-C3 organization which would facilitate raising and donating giant pumpkins to schools and other organizations, and then all of the money spent growing the pumpkins would be tax deductible. Not only that, but you could solicit tax deductible donations from others for the purpose of growing giant pumpkins.
