If you were only growing 2 or 3 plants, do you think Triazicide spray and/or granular and/or Grubex could be used as an effective insect control program. Charlie

I will be using Lawn grub control by Bayer with Imadacloprid granular and Triazicide liquid for borers like I have the last two seasons and have had no borer problems. You won't need any other bug spray. Don

Hi Charlie, We have used Grubex for about 2 year. And it really has helped alot. We have not seen as many grubs plus it kept the darn moles out.. So we have seen quite a gifference...

The 2 active ingredients Lambda-cyhalothrin & Imidacloprid can easily make the back bone of your summer insect control program. Just be sure the Grubex you found actually contains Imidacloprid. Scotts took one year off & used Halofenozide in Grubex instead. That active ingredient won't help us.

Grubex (Imidacloprid) is a systemic & will control soil insetcs as well as other young insects (Cuke Beetles, Aphids, SVB, etc) that escape regular contact sprays. Grubex is a granular product that is broadcast & watered in. Lasts about 90 days in the soil. Some will need to reapply.
Triazicide (Lambda-cyhalothrin) is a contact insecticide that will control Cuke Beetles, Adult laying SBV's, Aphids, White Flies, Squash Bugs, etc when timed & applied properly.
We use both active ingredients here for the most complete control.

I'm with Gordon... GO UTES!

I have used triazicide with good results. It's also very cheap. But I have not thought to try Grubex for soil borne bugs until now. Thanks for the idea. -Cliff

Steve, does Grubex have any effect on earthworms? I have used it last two seasons and still have a lot of 'em ? Thanks, Duff

Imidacloprid (Grubex, Merit, Admire, Goucho, Provado, Marathon, & Bayer Season Long Grub Control) is considered a "LOW" toxicity insecticide against Earthworms.
We have used it on the lawn for 9 of the last 10 years. We have many more earthworms than when we bought the place. Though Merit has only been used in the Pumpkin patch for 2 of the last 3 years, we also have a "LOT" more worms there than previously.
Adding organic matter & avoiding high salt fetilizers & drought conditions pleases the worms to no end. And Merit causes them no particular stress from any data or observations I have seen.
