Due to popular demand, and because this is the time to start germinating your seeds if you haven't already, here's the Hawaiian gourd (pumpkin) seed planting chant:

He ipu nui!
O hiki ku mauna
O hiki kua
Nui maoli keia ipu!
(Translation:

A huge ipu (gourd, pumpkin)
Growing like a mountain
To be carried on the back
Really huge is this gourd)

According to tradition, the effectiveness of this chant is augmented if performed in Hawaiian, preferably by a pot-bellied man, and in a location away from the home.

Water,

You never cease to amaze me! (I think a lot of us have the pot belly thing down pat!)
