go to a Hardware store. See if they have any mini clamps. I just bought a package of 18 assorted sizes for $5.99.

Thank you all for the ideas. Steve is right, I live in Germany, and do not have direct access to those stores, but, the idea from TB111 is perfect. I can order them online and have them shipped. I do have another question though, the biggest I found at staples.com was 2 inch with 1 inch capacity, they should be big enough don't you think? Course I guess now I am going to have to check the size of the pvc pipe to make sure. thanks again, owen

Owen, I used the 2" last year on my hoop houses and shade, they worked great, fit very nicely over the 1" O.D. plastic conduit.

Thanks Bill. that solves the binder problem, I have the tarps (blue), I know where to get the conduit from, now all I have to do is figure out where to get the rebar(sp) from.....everyday a challenge...LOL

i got mine from a local lumber yard--- 20' long, and cut through them with a cutting disc attached to my bench grinder---man, what an afternoon! if not there, try a place that has anything to do with concrete--that's what they use 'em for initially. ericyerpal

Make it easy on yourself, don't use rebar, use copper pipe, the 3/4 inch stuff. It's cheap, strong, and one heck of alot easier to cut than rebar...........and it's the perfect size to fit inside the white pvc tubing. Works great for me!

If you don't know it rebar is or is going to be in short supply. That is why the price of scrap steel is so high in the north east.

All steel prices are rising fast. We just increased machinery prices 5% to cover raw material cost increases. Much of this is energy & freight related.

Hey, I know it's a little more work, but boat & sowing supply places still sell grommets & the tools to set them. This & a buggee cord does a much better job than those clips. I've used both, believe me.
Just a thought.

Wow, lots of great ideas! The copper pipe is a great alternative if i can't get some rebar for free. Martin also emailed me with another one. Not sure what they are called in english, but we have these small clamps (spring loaded) used to hold wood together when you are glueing them together. The tarp will tear in the wind before those things will give out. Is that what you meant Shannon?
