1st Annual Giant Pumpkin and Big Veggie Weigh-off!!

We invite all of you to join us at the 1st Annual Giant Weigh-off in Prescott, Arizona.

It will be hosted at:

Watter's Garden Center
1815 Iron Springs Road
Prescott, AZ 86301

The date will be October the 9th; Pumpkins will also be on display for the following week

There will be prizes in many Categories (Heaviest, Ugliest, ect...)

Bring your friends, family, kids, and of course your Big Pumpkins and Veggies.

Jeff,
How many growers do you have in that area? Prescott is up off the dessert floor, but I would still think that shading the plant might be necessary?

he he he, we don't have many at all. I am trying to make more Big Pumpkin growers.

Shading is a must, The sun is strong up here and will burn large leafs fast. but besides that we have the same temps as Ohio.

Thanks for the info. This being my first year of "playing around", I don't think I will grow anything to be of significance. However, I plan on still making it up there to see who the other AZ growers are.

Next year, now that is when I will try for a biggie.

BTW, the only "official" Arizona record I have seen is 51.5 lb. However, I seem to remember someone from the board who had a diary and grew a 170+ lb pumpkin. What her weight official? I wish I remembered her name.
