I saw this in Menard's weekly ad in the newspaper and thought to myself "That would make a nice raised bed for my hills." Is it big enough? Is there more lateral root growth than it would allow at that shallow of depth? anyone care to comment or offer a thought?

Thanks,

i'm thinking the only advantage to this product would be to keep the water-soluble early-on ferts where you actually are watering the plant; you know, concentrates the water and fertilizer right around the plant when it is small.
i think you'll be better off making a hill as you have heard about from other growers on how to do it, and throwing-down some weed-block material 3' X 3' right where you plant the seedling, which will eliminate the splashing and soil erosion right around the seedling. the roots of the plant will probably grow-out to the edges of the ring-thing, hit it like a wall and then have to go downward.
i don't know if that is a bad thing, just my thoughts because there aren't any others at the moment--good luck! eg
