I am a new grower and I may be behind in my soil preparation. I have an existing garden, that I plan on growing my pumpkin in. I did a Ph. test and it came back at about 6.7-6.9. I would like to beef up my existing soil and also add on some square footage to my existing garden. Is it too late to till in manure and leef humus? Will I receive any benefit or will I jeopardize changing the soil ph and possibly create a dangerous situation for my seedlings root system. What should I do?

If the amendments you use are well decomposed, there is no danger in adding them. I say go for it. Your pH is perfect now.

Thanks for the advice. I'm also currently collecting coffee grounds from the local Starbucks , and adding them in. They have a terrific recycling program.
