howdy, my goats are up on the roof, been having to slop the hogs and draw water from the well, man i'll sure be glad when we get one of those creosote lectric poles in our front yard!!! now to the question... what is the best type of seed to plant that will grow fairly good in the heat?? thanks from the hills of tennessee,Keith

i know what you mean about the heat. my best work-around has been to plant the variety of pumpkins your want as early as possible in the spring, i've had luck with just about all the standard varieties doing that. since i'm a halloween nut and want pumpkins in the fall, i've had to slim down the varieties for summer planting to just a few. 'mammoth gold' and 'big max' seem to work the best and they get fairly big, although they don't make the traditional jack-o-lantern pumpkins. i have read (and will try next year) two other varieties that are supposed to do well in the heat, 'kentucky field' and 'seminole', although i believe they are more tan than orange. that's my experience, has anyone else had better luck?
