For all the monsters they put out year after year and they hand out 200#, 300#, 400#, 500#, etc. seed that few have heard of and have little to no progeny? Not to degrade anyone's hard work in creating those seeds but geez, it's the New Hampshire group for crying out loud! What'd the members grow up there this year? 1458,1213,1186,1133,1121,on and on.... What's up with that? I'm not renewing, that sort of offends me...just my opinion.

I belong to a few of the pumpkin clubs, but it's mainly for the newsletters & contacts. To be honest with you seed giveaways are way down the list of reasons I join a group. I may be out of line here Hoss, but that sounds ungrateful. I was always taught to be content with whatever you get.............Paul

If I am not mistaken they give out seeds to encourage new growers to get started in the hobby. It is not intended to be a source of obtaining highly sought out genetics. I myself have swap with about 150 growers out there this year and I am sure some of my NH buddies have done even more than myself. I talk to a fellow out of state grower the other day and He told me how impressed he was with how friendly and generous the NH growers were to him. I don't know anywhere where it is promised that you would receive free seeds with our newsletter, so what ever you get is extra. I never get anything with my newsletter. :) I don''t think there is any reason to be offeded.

The seeds may not be proven but some (at least the ones I got) are early to mid 90's. Meaning pre-Lloyd, Mettler, Stelts, and Calai genetic invasion. These kinds of crosses are hard to come by today. Not bashing anybody here, just saying.

I'm NOT after the genetics, I have plenty of good seed, it's the principle of the matter. The NH group gives away yearly seeds from growers except their own, or so it appears? That's just not right, in my opinion. Heaven forbid I did that with the SPGA. Call me a bad sport but that's just my opinion...I dunno, it just hit me wrong.

I shouldn't have even said anything, sorry for stirring up controversy. Like I said, it just hit me wrong.

I can see Kyle's point, and I can see Jim's point. Tough call. I always join up with clubs expecting about nothing. IPGA and OVGPG sends newsletters, IPGA seeds. I joined PGVG for seeds one year, got quite a few, but anymore, there is no point to that for me. Lets just hang in there another month guys. April will be full out patch prep.

hey kyle i have to agree with you it seems that if some of the better seeds where shared with other clubs and newcomers and some of us that just cant afford to spend bookoo bucks on proven seeds there would be a much higher feeling of companionship and willingness to push the art of giant pumpkin growing over the top, hopefully kyle when you get the spga up and going the art of being a southern gentleman or in some cases for are female growers southern belles shall prove to be the wave of the future who wouldve thunk it kindness and sharing,im proud to have gotten in on the ground floor kyle and im proud of you for not worrying about being politically correct!keep up the good work.keith barrett
