Welcome Anthony....Get out while you still can and have a yard left.. Soon you will be cutting down trees, hauling stinky manure, your neighbors will be whispering and pointing at you. You might even end sneaking into peoples patches in the middle of the night with a hand drawn map and a flashlight to get a couple of males because yours are not open yet. Worse yet getting Elephant Shit when you go to the circus and convincing the family it is a good thing. The list goes on...A very humourous book could be written to only be enjoyed by those with the "BUG" Shannon

Welcome anthony! Good luck. Be warned; Giants Pumpkin growing is habit forming & can lead to great frustration. But it's an awful lot of fun too. Great folks to meet along the way as well.
Get Don's second book.
"How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins II"
You can search this site to find links for online ordering or you may find it at better book stores.

You know, Shannon has a valid point. When compared to the rest of the world, we are a rather odd lot aren't we? I mean, we really do get all excited when we discover a pile of old animal crap.
Who else but a Giant Pumpkin grower would borrow a 10 wheeled International dump truck towing a 5 ton trailer with a JD 510 Backhoe *and* a four yard 6 wheel Chevy just to haul 10 year old Horse manure over 30 miles.
Just this past Thursday I ordered special low volume misting heads for my cooling system that even the wholesale sprinkler guy didn't know Toro made. He's probably still scratching his head as I left him. $83.00 for just the 34 nozzles is beyond comprehension for the average gardener especially since the intention is to keep the soil *dry*. The concept of 3 sprinkler systems for one garden had the poor counter help completely befuddled. But what really blew his mind was the Commercial duty 12 zone Hydro-Saver 12 modified with a digital time delay computer & theromostatic controls.
If this keeps up I'll need a pink Flamingo for the patch too!

Welcome Anthony These guys are right, growing giant pumpkins is very addictive. The decent into madness is slow for some, faster for others. It sounds like tremor has "Gone Nesbit" There is no known cure once you reach that point. You have been warned! Good luck, Grow 'em big, and have fun! Eric
