Ken and I will be at the Niagara Seminar this year. It is our hope to conduct some one-on-one interviews with the various heavy hitters there.
Although we have a bunch of good questions, we thought we would open it up and let you guys suggest some questions to ask.
So here is your chance to give us your input... what burning questions would you like answered by a heavy hitter?

Ken & John ; 2 Questions;;;#1 ask them, do they believe the fruit gets any good from the plant growing beyond the fruit and if they answer "yes" do they know this to be a fact?? # 2;;;Folks that let the main vine grow beyond the fruit but trim the secondaries off the main vine beyond the fruit are using this as a shock absorber??

These hitters have provided growers [and themselves]some very prolific seed. This appears to be before the time apog was "popular". Did they have/observe any characteristics that indicated just how good these seed stocks might turn out to be? Did any particular grower create a certain cross with apog in mind?

I'd like to know how they select the seeds they plant each year. Some are no brainers but then sometimes they plant things that make me wonder.

Since you've been growing, what "old school" methods have you thrown out and abandoned in exchange for "new trends"? (If they'll say!)

Explain what counter measures one can take to prevent splits.
Can most splits be blamed on genetics or enviromental factors(heat, moisture, fertilizer etc...)
Does the percentage of green AG's grown in a year have a lower rate of splitting than the percentage of true orange AG's?

Who of the "hitters" subscribes to the 300-500 sq ft "less is more" pruning protocol.
And yeah. What is "apog"?

ask them....do you feed your pumpkins milk?
(sorry i couldn't resist)
I believe, a while ago there was a post about what percentage the environment vs. genetics has on the the pumpkin. Some of their opinions on that would be interesting (I know it's a pretty broad question, but it's all good)
Opinions on chemicals vs. organic, the effects on the soil, etc. would spark discussion too.

Good point Brigitte. How many are using compost tea, what have the results been, & what recipe are they using & when?
And how do they control those dang flamingos?

I for one would like to know what kind of balance of soil nutrients they shoot for. Organic matter, micro nutrients ect. How ever much info they would be willing to share on this would be fantastic. Eric
