I'm looking for the ultimate COLOR pollinator for my 208# this year. The 208# grandmother is a Big Max and it was pollinated with a 922.5 Emmons in 2002 and a 940 Mombert '98 in 2003.
I'd like opinions on a seed that *consistently* produces tall, well-shaped, bright orange/red colored pumpkins. I'm not particularly looking to breed it with a "hot" seed, just something consistently producing vivid COLOR.
I'm racking my brains out and could use a few ideas, thanks.

Kyle,
I have an 801.5 x sibb that would make some good color. 553 Nesbitt, or mine which one of the sibbs was a clone from Koch's 801.5. Email me if interested.

Perhaps an 888 Mombert, 1230 Daletas, or if 1000 pounds is not the goal, cross back to the real beauties, burpee prizwinner.

Kyle:
How about a 793 Bhaskaran (03) or a 430 Bhaskaran (02)? Lots of 801.5 in 'em...Both should throw good color...

801.5 Stelts 97, 810 Dill 99 and maybe the 1016 Daletas 01.
Good color but not such a good potential for weight: 940 and 867 Mombert 00.
Just my thoughts. There might well be others but I have these in mind as I will grow them this year for color...

Another very good choice should be the 243 D. Beachy (801.5 X open)

How bout the 895 Hester*. Grown some reel nice ones! LOL. Actually though I'd either go with Prizewinner (like Brett said, if size doesn't count) or 869 Calai, AWESOME color producer. Alex.

My 689.5 from last year was a bright orange. It was grown on the Calai 869.5 which I selfed. I know it is unproven but the offspring should also be orange. I have seeds available. There are photos in my diary section from last season.

I agree with Ned and Steveman. The 869.5 Calai or one the the 869.5 x self/sib. Look at some of the offspring, Langevins 953, Neds 689.5 and the winner of the VA state fair, 692 Herring.

I have a friend who grows big carvers around here and he would love a few of those 208's if you can spare them Kyle.

Oh, I can spare 'em Brent. Gorgeous color and gorgeous pollinator. Send me your addy again and I'll drop a few in the mail.
Anyone wants some seed or just see pics of it and the pollinator just e-mail me.
After reading everyone's posts, I believe I'm leaning towards Jack LaRues 300# (Prizewinner x 801.5 Stelts) or the 869.5 Calai...the Calai would put some weight to it also.
Anyone got any of those 300# LaRues?

Kyle,
As you know I intend to grow a few of your 208's this year. I will also be growing (if all goes well) a 869.5 Calai, 1230 Daletas, and a 1225 Jutras which I don't think was mentioned but I feel would be a good choice for pollinator. Maybe before you make your finial decision(s) we can get together and come up with a plan to cover MANY bases. You should know without a doubt that you will be welcome to any and all of the seeds from my crosses.

Mike, I'll e-mail ya'....
Correction...Jim Sherwood correctly reminded me the 300# LaRue is a (Prizewinner x 567.5 Mombert). That was crossed with a 801.5 Stelts which gave Jim a 590#.
Ohhh yea...can't wait to see what the 208# is gonna do :0)
