Our feline patch protecters (Mojo & Booboo) get really excited during the three leaf seedling transplant stage (Cloches) and last year in their Zelouseness inadvertantly killed a couple of GREAT seedlings. Any ideas on how to get them to stay off the "babies" with out discouraging them from their mousing duties?

With my dog only a huge fence helps. So half of the garden belongs to the neighbor’s cat and in the middle (neutral zone; under the pile) are some mice. They seem to be the biggest problem. I guess it is all about politics :-)

We used to sell Miller's Hot Sauce. 400 times stronger than a Cayenne pepper. The same stuff that Police pepper spray is made from. Pricey stuff. But the best I've ever used for cats. I wouldn't spray the plant itself at that young age. Just the cloches.

My greenhouse got ripped up during that -5*F week by a cold animal. After crying frozen tears & repairing the damage, I squirted some on the damaged area. The critter never tried again.
I've never seen this stuff fail on Cats, teenage boys or Squirrels.

I have a jar of Dave's Insanity Sauce, maybe I will give that some use. The only other thing I ever used it for was to spice up my chili, only used a speidie skewer dipped in the jar, made my chili smoke!

Shoot them and get new cats for the mice.

Tom has a good idea. Or perhaps buried head first so the tail wiggles around scaring off squirrels.

You might try electric fence. Put one strand 4 inches off the ground and another one a few inches above that. We do that every year around our corn patch. I also put one around my entire pumpkin patch after I take the hutches down. I leave it up till the plants are too big to be hurt by the animals. Keeps dogs and cats out. Just put the wire up according to height and size of animal. As for keeping out the mice, try rodent repellant available at hardware stores.

buy chicken wire for a few bucks at the hardware store and put it in a circle around the seedlings.

Well there you have it. The typical answers from the same ole peanut gallery. Shoot the cat; Bury it head first? What ever....I will refrain from this stupidity for awhile
