my plants had been doing ok i thought, but then on thursday i went to check on my patch after work and was amazed at the sudden and explosive growth of my plant. What caused this? I water with miracle grow on Monday and had rain on wednesday. No growth to that extent on tuesday and wednesday though. did wednesdays rain further wash the fertilizer down to the root zones? Also, why does it seem like the female flowers come in spurts? None for awhile, and then a few at once? fertilizing again?

Did your pumpkins grow as well as the plants? I stopped using miricle grow about a month ago that way the growth would be focussed on the fruit not the plant.(leaves) This is my first time growing a giant pumpkin and the estimated weight today is 270 lbs. Good luck and have fun...

Flora..... when my pumpkins first set they were growing at a good pace(i guess for MAMMOTH GOLD pumpkins) but then they have slowed. I'm not sure if it's the cloudy weather and rain or what. i hope they'll pick up the pace. where can i get fertilizer high in potash(0-0-60)?
