How good do they keep in pots, in the greenhouse? Can you keep them pruned back to fit in a 6" pot for the winter Maybe a foot long. Every few days I would need to prune, but I need to do that with all my plants anyway :~) Also, to have on space, can I put them up a trellis or something? I know I am asking this kind of early but it may impact what seeds I start this year or not. :) Thanks!

John,
We kept clone this winter from plants grown by a friend. 36" window boxes. They just keep jumping from one box to another. So a 6' bench is needed. Once the second box is established & the vine is severed, the older section can be tossed. So the vine just keeps leap frogging box to box all winter.
Marc Sawtelle did a nice article on cloning (cuttings) which can be found at AGGC. I think there's also a link here at BP from the "how to" area.

Clone -I grew one last year put it in my normal patch Worse thing I could have ever done It caried over powder mildew form the year before. It spread threw the patch like wild fire killed off half off my patch. Only suggest I would make is to keep it far away for the rest of your other plants and clean your tools like hoe and shovel before you use them in your normal patch, Hope this helps mark

I don't think the clone is at fault Mark. Had you eliminated the mildew and created/maintained a mildew-free environment for the clone you wouldn't have mildew. All clones should be carefully and thoroughly sprayed PRIOR to inside storage. Preventative fungisides in your patch should have been done also...especially if your clone had mildew when replanted. Clones are great sources of rare genetics , but like everything else...need to be done properly.

What are some preventative fungicides I can put down to make sure I don't get mildew this season?
Thanks John

The mildew Mark is refering to from the clone, almost wiped my patch out also. Randoo had the same problem. I went threw the list of fungicides trying to stop it. If I were to grow a clone again, it would get a systemic from day one.
