I was curious, those of you who have wood planks to walk on in your patches, what do you use? 2x8's, plywood (and if so,what thickness?), or something else? besides not wanting to compress the soil, our 2ft of snow is melting and I am seeing the benefits/hazards of soil that holds moisture. I'd like to be able to spread my coffee grounds without waders.
Thanks,
Matt

We use 2x6 blocks. about a foot long as stepping stones. Seems to do good for us.

Matt, 12" wide lap siding works great. I got mine from an old house that was being remodeled

I use old 5/4s deck boards two wide with 2x4 braces to hold them together. Best of all they were free. Steve

We use cut off board pieces from the local saw mills. Cost is same as fire wood....about $90.00 a cord. $10.00 gets two wheelbarrow loads.....enough for the two plant patch.
I choose hardwoods. When they warp we split and burn them for weenie roasts.

2x8's & remnants of a 6 ft tall stockade fence cut to 3 sections wide seems about as narrow as this clutz can handle.

I've gotten all my boards by just driving through my home town on junk day and picking the boards home owners throw away. FREE

I like your suggestion, and price, the best Brian! Can't wait till spring clean up days in a month or two! Now if I can just find an old waterbed heater to use as my incubator... I am set..
