The seed raffle is a go! Here is the seeds as of today, possibly more to be added. You will have one month to get money to me before the March 14th ending.. INfo at bottom of this posting.. Good luck to all..

The tickets are 1 chance for 10 dollars, and 3 chances for 20 dollars. The raffle is officially started now with the blessing of the Dill family, they offered seeds for this event, but thier blessing is enough! Here is my mailing address to send your money order/check to. (This is USD Funds)

FYI, the driving forces behind this effort are Wayne Kennedy and Glenn Andrews. The green jacket, trophy, and plaque will be given anually to the largest true green squash each year, starting with the 2004 growing season. We are actively shopping for a nice wall plaque to be presented to the Green Grower with the first 1000 lb green squash. We are also actively shopping for a suitable Trophy...which will be presented to each years True Green Champion for the seasonal year. This Trophy will be passed on to the next year's Champion after a suitable engraving that may not (has yet to be determined) be limited to the grower's name,year, and wieght.(One idea under consideration is a separate engraved plate on the back/side/whatever, with a space for a sentence of the winner's choice...words of encouragement, etc...). The jacket purchase options are also beinginvestigated as we speak. We wont be purchasing the jacket until we know what size I will be in March of 2005 but having the Plaque and Trophy on hand next month at the International Grower Seminar would help kick off the Green Jacket Event in fine fashion. More....

The Trophy,Plaque, and Jacket cost money...not EXACTLY sure how much Tom, but any funds over the cost will certainly be accounted for. We (the Green Fans)hope to have a "Club" up and running sometime this year for representation and to "present" this Green Grower's Trophy. Wayne and I consider ourselves Co-Chairmen of the "Start Up Committee" for this "Club" and envision a membership and a steering committee of some sort chosen by and for growers and fans of the True Green. Wayne's Green Jacket is an awesome idea that seems to be supported by everyone we've asked. It gives a grower another goal to reach, another thrill, another challenge. And now....a big shiney Trophy and Green Jacket.
Any funds in excess of the immediate requirements will go towards the second year's jackets,engraving,etc.(and likely determined by the growers for the growers) Should anyone have a concern about fund allocation/justification etc then don't participate, but we (the green growers) would appreciate your support in any way you feel comfortable. I stand by my name and Waynes and our intentions are pure. This will be fun.
We have alot to work out and any help we can get to get this thing going through auctions,donations,support is appreciated. Go Green !!!

to all the Squash Growers.........Trophy and Plaque have been purchased......about 600.00 lighter at the moment but thats just fine....this quest is rolling.....will try to have pics posted as soon as the final engraving has been completed, about two weeks....so that falls about the time I am in Florida.....so pics should be posted first week of March......
