Unless I missed something(and this is possible, since my puter was SHOT for 6 hours)What became of the post by docgipe that had that infected link in it?? Or has no one else had the stones to ask? Thanks docgipe, I needed a Pony, but NOT A TROJAN, I never mentioned it before but will now, You docgipe, sent me a email along time ago, right after I posted a compliment on here about how nice the folks on here were, telling me not to trust the man up the road, or some jibberish, Mcaffee picked up the attachment, it contained a virus also,I trusted the link you posted as something ALL should read and assumed it had some pertinent information, clean up your puter docgipe, it's not right to post a link that causes fellow members GRIEF

I send e-mail back and forth all the time with my buddy docgipe. Docgipe is a SUPER nice guy. I also go to all the different web sites he tells me about.I've never had a problem. At the same time, I think it would be a much nicer way of going about something is to contact someone direct. There is no need to lash out by putting up a stupid post like this one. After all, where all human and only GOD is perfect. Also, If your on the internet and your looking up many things, or downloading something, where all at risk.

The post was nuked. The link had nothing meaningful nor was it meant to have anything meaningful... It was a joke.

I went to the link before Tremor posted to stay away.

I can only assume that the link did not do to doc what it did to me.

I did not mind so much that the link said "you are an idiot" I laughed and thought 'you got me'... but then it launched an exec that I could not get out of until I did a 'Ctl Alt Delete' out of Internet Explorer.

When I got out of it... I wasn't laughing.

Just fyi...

I'm not lashing out, nor am I stupid, the fact remains that the post was infected, period. And I think that it is irresponsible to put something like that on here, where we all gather, I have the ability to scan any thing I post, or send to anyone before I send it, and I do, to keep crap like this from happening. I am not saying good ole doc, isn't a good man, he just needs a better working knowledge of what he is doing, sorry I stepped on toes here, but I don't and won't regret it, after all Why is the post gone, not because it wasn't a bad rabbit!!

Just to clarify... as far as I know the link was not 'infected'. It was a joke! A real joke meant to be funny.

I think that is all. Once out of it (which was the trick) there were no lasting ill effects.

For those still awaiting the link to the how to grow a monster pumpkin... well, you will just have to buy the books.

Not expecting that the very safe link would cause anything but a hardy hardy laugh I immediately, like within some few minutes to half an hour personally ask John and Ken to remove the mis-understood...quickly becoming nasty line.

....I also made a straigt forward and humble apology to those who did not understand it and felt abused by it. Personally I thought it was darn funny....still do for that matter. Maybe I have a warped sense of humor. :)

Many of the recent email viruses and worms spoof email addresses. This means that someone other than Doc probably has a virus and happens to have Doc’s Email address in there address book. The virus scans the individuals address book and resends itself to all addresses sometimes using the addresses as the sender, spoofing.

I would not place the blame on Doc and I would certainly never open an attachment, no matter who it appears to be from without scanning it for viruses.

Doc, I thought it was damn funny, fact is it was the best laugh I had in days. Now I am sorry if I came off like a jack ass, and to all of you, I was concerned with each and everyone of us.

I advised staying away from that link because it was dangerous. But Dwaine had no way of knowing this. His email was clean. This was confirmed by our IS dept.

The email was clearly from Dwaine. We converse frequently & this was in his pen for sure. His anti-virus software & mine were both working. The virus was *NOT* in the email.

However....that website has issues. During the laughing idiot phase I also was hit with an 'exec' file that launched the Trojan virus during the download. It must have been a pathetic virus. I never saw one caught & destroyed so easily.

Lot's of websites are dangerous for this stuff. My son & his grandmother got one during a game download last weekend on this very PC. On a kids website. Fred Flintstone for Pete's sake. Norton destroyed it.

My frustration stemmed from the fact that it was my work laptop & I 5 quotes open in excel & a phone ringing off the hook. Fortunately I am of the good habit of always saving changes before jumping files so I lost nothing even after the old "Control-Alt-Delete" escape.

Yeah. I was pretty bent when it happened. But I got over it before Dwaine even answered his phone. LOL. And I didn't call to pitch a fit either. I called on the advice of my IS guys to recommend he run his Norton real quick to make sure he didn't grab the Trojan too. He hadn't.

No hard feelings here. Life's too short to go worrying about stuff like this guys. Let's lighten up.

For what it's worth Doc, and I have emailed back and forth many times and my Norton said all correspondence was clean of virusus. Plus he's pretty funny! "Every since the first cave man peed outside the cave enterance and noticed the extra green dan-D-lyons"..... I just wish the 8 inches of snow here would finally melt so I could see the dirt where Ive' been peeing...

This gets to be most interesting. I guess I am concerned as much as anyone. History Fact: the communication only caused one person to be discovering a Trogon, Virus or Worm.
History Fact: The E was sent to multiple people. No one else had a problem with Trogon, Virus or Worm. History fact: On the way to me the content of the E-mail and the URL went through one or more major private institutions and individual desk top computers. Both McAffee and Norton professional and desktop services detected no Trojon, Virus or Worm on the way, to me. Hstory Fact: On the way from me the E-mail and the URL was run through my personal professional 24hr 7/24 scanning service. My ISP gets another look as it passes through them. No Trojon, Virus or Worm as it was leaving my responsibility. The URL was brought in and saved in one, of my files. It could not have been saved if it was dragging along a problem. I just now sent a copy of it to myself, my isp, and my computer service person. No Trojon, Virus or Worm. We have checked the source of the URL. No Trojon, Virus or Worm.

What I believe is going on here is a metamorphism where in a Trojon in a select one location, changed to a worm and may be continuing as a virus within one and only one system.

I am so concerned about this that I am offering $100.00 cash for a copy and paste proof of the McAfee, Norton or other service catch and hold action. This will certainly be a mater of record easily attainable in one, of two computer records as recorded, in this thread. I would like to provide this proof to my computer service person, McAfee and Norton.

As we speak the silly URL, of challenge, that I requested be removed from this thread, is continuing, to be circulated, in great numbers through the net. No one is having a Trojon, Worm or Virus problem out there. This is a true statement where only the URL was moved forward and in no known cases where my E-mail was forwarded.
